Agglomerated latex, flock and filtered glass vault. Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Santiago de Chile. Photographs by Andrés Herrera.
Estructuras de Trance (Structures of Transition) is a collaboration with choreographer Fernanda González. The public and dancers are invited to take off their shoes and physically experience their body over the soft-flocked latex platform on the floor. The architecture of the Main Hall contains the bodies in motion and their learned and un-learned movements become part of the work in an effort to fade the limits between viewer and performer. The overall monochrome lighting visually connects the platform with the rest of hall space, and its blue wavelenght activates the third photoreceptor in our eyes by producing serotonin and making the body stay awake.
